Buyers Take More Time |
Buyers Are Taking More Time And
Shopping More Sites Prior To Making A Decision.
On average, buyers take nearly a month to go from their first search to a purchase
"On average, buyers make 12 travel related searches, visit 22 websites and take 29 days from the first time they search until they make a purchase. Forty-five per cent of transactions occur four weeks or more after the first search." (Comsource)
On average travelers visit the purchase website 2.5 times
"Most shoppers visit the site they eventually purchase from more than once, averaging 2.5 visits. Just ten per cent of the transactions take place on the first search referral to a given site, and 38 per cent of transactions happen at four weeks or more after the first visit." (Comsource)
For exclusive pay per click advertisers this puts another nail in the coffin. Pay per click ROI was down 41% last year and buyers are avoiding paid ads 84% of the time. (Penn State)
Knowing that buyers are taking longer to decide and are returning to multiple sites to ponder their decisions is an important competitive weapon for any internet marketer.
- So, what do you do?
- Make sure that you have an effective and consistent campaign to keep you organically ranked on the front page of the major search engines.
- Give buyers a compelling reason to return to your site such as Blogs, social networking, chat rooms, free articles, tips and techniques. Keep in mind that buyers need a relationship with you before they will be likely to spend their money.
Our Secret Sauce... We use Blogs with all of our clients because Blogging has double the benefits... Higher Search Engine Organic Ranking AND more reason for your buyer to come back and see what is current.
Caution: I am hearing more and more from web masters who have been banned from Google because they have used techniques that even a few months ago were acceptable. The Google bots want current, relevant, key-word rich content (CRC). When the bots sniff out your site if they think that you are trying to trick them you will actually get pushed lower in the rankings!
